Mass panic broke out on social media after a TikTok video suggested that the Mona Lisa was stolen in the beginning of 2023.
In the 10-second clip it was alluded that nine days into welcoming 2023 the famous Leonardo da Vinci piece was stolen however there is no confirmation from the Louvre, where the Mona Lisa was displayed.
Therefore, it seems that the news might be fake as it was clearly based off of hearsay.
In the video posted on January 8, it showed a flood ambulance vehicles and police cars sounding off their sirens at the famed Arc De Triomphe.
"POV: You’re in Paris when the Mona Lisa has been stolen," it read.
The clip amassed over 2.4 million views in just 24 hours of its release.
