'Gladiator', Ridley Scott film sequel to star Paul Mescal

Gladiator has found a warrior.

The epic 2000s movie "Gladiator" is making a return for part 2 almost 25 years after the first screening.

Paul Mescal, the breakout star of "Normal People" and "Aftersun," has been mentioned as entering the arena for Ridley Scott's "Gladiator 2."

Mescal will play Lucius, the son of Lucilla, who was portrayed by Connie Nielsen in the original movie and will have huge shoes to fill, given that Russell Crowe won an Oscar for the Hollywood version.

Scott is expected to take the helm again and produce through Red Wagon Entertainment with Scott Free President Michael Pruss, Doug Wick, and Lucy Fisher. David Scarpa wrote the script.
