Gladiator sequel finally in the works 23 years after original: report

A sequel to the blockbuster action movie, Gladiator, has been confirmed.

As per reports, the Roman epic will be helmed by director Ridley Scott, with the filming set to begin as soon as in May.

The sources stay tight-lipped about the plot details, however, it is expected the son of Roman Empress Lucilla, Lucius Verus will be the star of the story.

“This has been building since 2018 and for a long time, it looked like it may never see the light of day.

“But suddenly late last year the production team really sprung into life after settling on a new script which seemed to inspire them,” a source revealed to The Sun.

The first installment of the action movie franchise, led by Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, raked in an impressive £460 million at the box office.
