Queen Elizabeth eager to know Meghan Markle's political affiliation, says Prince Harry

Since the release of the Netflix miniseries Harry & Meghan, attention has been on Meghan Markle's ongoing scrutiny and interrogation even before she married Prince Harry. Among the questions asked of the Duchess of Sussex was one regarding her political affiliation and her opinion of former President Donald Trump, which was posed to her by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

At least it is what the youngest son of Princess Diana says is revealed in his book Spare. In fact, the Queen confronted him about Trump right before the 2016 presidential election during one of their first encounters with Meghan.

Harry says in his biography that he can relate to his grandmother's interest in Trump because, at the time, everyone was talking about and speculating about what would happen to the Republican nominee. It wasn't the prince's brightest idea, though.

Harry refers to this as a "no-win game" in the book, which may have something to do with the couple's discussion of the political aspirations of a former contestant on The Apprentice. But Meghan wanted to talk about her time spent living in Toronto and working on the "Suits" television programme.

"Grandma seemed pleased. 'Commonwealth. Good, good,'" Harry recalled.

The wife of the prince recently provided her account of what transpired in one of the episodes of Harry & Meghan a few weeks ago.

"There wasn't a big moment like, 'And now you're going to meet my grandmother,'" she recalled. "I remember being in the car and Harry said, 'You know how to curtsy, don't you,' and I thought it was a joke," Markle said.
