Internet weighs in on 'unbelievable' fashion sense of 45-year olds in 90s

Twitter users are pouring in their thoughts on the fashion sense polarity between middle-aged adults of the 90s with that of the present era.

The debate sparked after a filmmaker took to Twitter and posted a photo of actors Diane Keaton and Steve Martin from the movie Father of the Bride 2.

In the photo, the actors were dressed in loose-fitted suits and strings of pearls, portraying the 45-year-old parents of the main lead, Annie, 22.

“An unbelievable thing that has changed in 30 years is that in 1995, this was supposed to be what 45-year-olds looked like,” Jessica Ellis wrote alongside the photo.

People didn’t hold back on their wonder and surprise at the conspicuous difference in the fashion sense between the two eras.

“They would not style a 45 year old like that today! They'd put someone on a Peloton!” one of the users said.

“Women with whom I grew up dress like that - pearls and little sweaters. It's like the country club meets realtor look. I refuse to dress like an old person or have those hairstyles,” another said.

“If I wear that much beige at 45, just put me in the grave,” a third lamented.
