Saudia Arabia’s football team coach, Rudi Garcia, latest faux pas might land him in trouble.

The Al-Nassr owner, who recently signed Christiano Ronaldo under the club for a whopping $175 million a year, revealed he originally wanted his rival, Lionel Messi to join after his historic world cup win.

The French native was asked about Ronaldo’s arrival in the team during a press conference, to which he quipped: “First I tried to take Messi.”

While Garcia brushed it off with a laugh, the comment might prove unhelpful in securing ties with the former Manchester United star.

Ronaldo’s recent move comes in the wake of the mutual termination of his Manchester United contract following his infamous interview with Piers Morgan.
