Katie Holmes snapped with daughter Suri Cruise, 16, before rushing off for holidays

While on vacation over Christmas, Katie Holmes was photographed with her rarely-seen daughter Suri, 16, whom she has with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.

The 44-year-old Dawson's Creek actress was photographed with her beaming kid at Newark Airport, not far from their New York City home.

They were wearing thick coats to stay warm, while Katie was seen wearing a colourful face mask and a huge festive-coloured scarf.

The performance coincides with Katie's significant return to a New York stage after more than ten years as she gets ready to star in Anna Ziegler's The Wanderers, according to Deadline.

Earlier this month, during a Y2K-era fashion "faux pas" frenzy, Katie's stylist went out to defend her client.

As she walked the red carpet at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball wearing a short blue top over wide-leg jeans, the actress saw her costume ridiculed in a social media thread that quickly went viral.

She paired a pair of black trainers with the two iconic fashion styles from the previous two decades.

Taking to Twitter, one fan who rather disliked the look, posted: "Please for the love of goddess keep this era of fashion in the archives. Love Katie Holmes… but I detest this cursed red carpet era. idc idc idc."
