Sonya Eddy, General Hospital actress dies at 55

Sonya Eddy, the soap opera star is dead at 55.

The "General Hospital" actress passed away on Monday, according to Octavia Spencer's Instagram post. She gave no information on what caused Eddy's passing.

“My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her,” Spencer, 52, captioned a headshot of Eddy.

“My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!”

In 2006, Eddy started her lengthy tenure on the ABC serial series. She played the role of Epiphany Johnson, the tough head nurse and mother of the late Stan Johnson, who joined the mafia.
