At least 36 people were left injured with 20 taken to emergency rooms after a Hawaiian Airlines plane suffered from "severe turbulence" amid its flight from Phoenix to Honolulu.
According to authorities, 11 patients were in severe condition and were rushed to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services which included a 14-month-old child.
The injuries include serious head injury, bruising, lacerations and loss of consciousness.
The airlines is "supporting all affected passengers & employees" in the situation which includes three crew members.
"Medical care was provided to several guests & crewmembers at the airport for minor injuries while some were swiftly transported to local hospitals for further care," Hawaiian Airlines tweeted.
The plane, which carried 278 passengers and 10 crew members, was said to have experienced turbulence for over 15 to 30 minutes.
