Prince Harry, Meghan Markle reveals one more reason for stepping down as royal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are disclosing more information about their choice to leave their positions as senior working royals.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex provide a preview of the upcoming episodes of their Netflix series Harry & Meghan in a brand-new teaser, which will be released on December 15.

Harry, 38, speaks to the camera while focusing on the level of press encroachment he thinks the couple experienced while serving as working members of the royal family. Additionally, he asserts that he and Meghan received different treatment from his brother, Prince William.

"They were happy to lie to protect my brother," Harry said in the trailer, before adding that he and Meghan were the victims of "institutional gaslighting."

"They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us," he continued.

Harry expresses surprise at the couple's choice to leave their royal responsibilities in February 2020, saying he "wonders what would have happened to us if we had not got out when we did."

"I said, 'We need to get out of here,' " he recalled.

Speaking while on a flight, Harry added in self-shot footage: "We are on the freedom flight."

Meghan also discusses the effects of the withdrawal on their personal lives, particularly the removal of their round-the-clock police protection by the British government on the grounds that they were no longer entitled to taxpayer-funded security.

"Our security was being pulled. Everyone in the world knew where we were," said Meghan.

"I wasn't being thrown to the wolves. I was being fed to the wolves," she added.
