Wednesday star Jenna Ortega is getting heat for "knowingly exposing hundreds of cast and crew to Covid" during the filming of the series.
Speaking to NME, the actress detailed how she went through crippling body pain but still pushed through filming the iconic dance scene despite later testing positive for the virus.
She said that she acted out the dance scene on the "first day with COVID so it was awful to film".
"I woke up and – it’s weird, I never get sick and when I do it’s not very bad – I had the body aches," she recalled.
"I felt like I’d been hit by a car and that a little goblin had been let loose in my throat and was scratching the walls of my esophagus.
"They were giving me medicine between takes because we were waiting on the positive result," she said.
Once the positive result returned she shared that the production MGM followed "strict protocols" and "once the positive test was confirmed production removed Jenna from set".
However, the revelation was met with intense scrutiny as fans quickly jumped in to call Jenna out for endangering others.
One said: "Why the f*** she didn't get sent home if she felt like she had been 'hit by a car' and 'a little goblin had been let loose in' her throat."
As another wrote: "Filming that dance scene while she had COVID is not impressive."
With a third saying: "'It was dangerous, unethical, and extremely selfish thing to do, both on her part, and on the part of the directors and producers. There's absolutely no positive way to spin an actress knowingly exposing hundreds of cast members and crew to COVID."
