Lizzo is being generous of heart.

Lizzo has enjoyed her fair share of award-show success during her career, with half of an EGOT already under her belt.

Although Lizzo's most recent victory at the 2022 People's Choice Awards may have seemed like just another distinction to some, it had special significance to her in several ways.

The performer took time during the award ceremony to recognize 17 female activists by calling them out loud and inviting them to the stage.

“So, I'm going, to be honest. When I first heard about this award, I was on the fence about whether I should accept. Because if I'm the people's champ, I don't need a trophy for championing people. You know what I'm saying?” Lizzo said in her speech.

“I'm here tonight because to be an icon isn't about how long you've had your platform,” she continued.

“Being an icon is what you do with that platform. Ever since the beginning of my career I've used my platform to amplify marginalized voices. Tonight, I'm sharing this honor,” Lizzo said before introducing each activist.

The celebrity urged the crowd to applaud the team's efforts before leaving, “Give them their flowers! Power will always be to the people!”, she declared.
