Marilyn Monroe: No one claimed the body for hours

Marilyn Monroe’s body was abandoned.

On Saturday, August 4, 1962, Marilyn Monroe was discovered dead in her Los Angeles, California, home. The star, 36, overdosed on barbiturates and passed away. It has been assumed that the celebrity committed suicide.

Eunice Murray, Monroe's housekeeper, found the actress' lifeless, naked body in her bed in the early hours of the morning. When Monroe passed away, her body was abandoned for several hours before the authorities learned of her passing, and she was transferred to the neighborhood morgue.

The actor spent more than 24 hours alone in the mortuary. There is no proof to back up the assertions that her body "went missing" for hours in some rumors.

Joe DiMaggio, whom she divorced in 1946, eventually came forward to claim Monroe's remains. The two were still friendly, and earlier that day, Monroe had spoken on the phone with his son Joe Junior.
