Keanu Reeves has a golden heart.
Keanu Reeves is genuinely kind-hearted. In 1997's The Devil's Advocate, it was revealed that John Wick's actor had significantly reduced his pay in order for the movie to be able to afford Al Pacino's appearance.
According to ABC News, the production team of the thriller drama considered casting The Godfather actor as John Milton, sometimes known as Satan, in the film, but the budget was insufficient.
The 58-year-old gave a sizable salary after sensing that, allowing them to compensate the Academy Award winner.
While reviews of Devil's Advocate were mainly unfavorable, critics concurred that Pacino brought something special to the portrayal of Milton. Additionally, Yahoo Movies named Pacino's performance in Devil's Advocate as his most underappreciated one.
Furthermore, Keanu Reeves continued to accept wage cuts to work with other actors after The Devil's Advocate. According to rumors, The Matrix actor took a staggering 90% salary reduction to collaborate with Gene Hackman on the drama film The Replacements in 2000.
