Lady Gaga is the epitome of millennial.
On Tuesday, Gen Zers criticised the pop artist for creating a phoney Instagram Boomerang video to advertise the Black Friday sale for her Haus Labs cosmetics line.
Gaga, 36, attempted to imitate a Boomerang, a little video clip that plays again, by tucking her hair behind her ear and displaying a yellow cosmetic tube.
Fans soon discovered that the repetitive motions were out of sync and that the video lacked the Boomerang effect mark.
"not her making a fake boomerang," one fan tweeted, adding, "i wonder if she’s being her genius campy self or if she actually thinks that’s what people do when they post boomerangs…"
"someone said she put the BOOMER in Boomerang & I’ve been screaming ever since," another fan quipped.
A third user wrote, "lady gaga, the woman who knows technology well enough to create ultra-sonic EDM sounds and songs + produce full on albums and make interludes like the ones at chromatica ball. but also the woman who doesn’t know technology well enough to do a boomerang."
Others asserted that the error was planned to generate more media attention.
"She’s actually a genius. Im sure she is sure people will repost the clip everywhere to mock her, but in both of those clips she’s selling a product… and you’re giving her free exposure everywhere," one fan pointed out.
"I hadn’t even seen these products on her insta and now thanks to Twitter I have."
