The Crown season 5 trailer is facing severe backlash.

The fifth season of The Crown has a trailer from Netflix that depicts the monarchy in disarray and gives away Princess Diana's demise.

“The royal family is in genuine crisis,” claims Martin Bashir (Prasanna Puwanarajah) in the trailer.

In the upcoming Netflix series, Diana (now played by Elizabeth Debicki) speaks in the background, “People will never understand how it’s really been for me; I never stood a chance,” Between visuals of the Princess of Wales lying motionless in a pool and carelessly driving a car.

The sixth and last season of the Emmy-winning drama, which is now in production, will feature Diana's tragic death rather than being dramatized in the future season (and sources have noted her fatal car crash itself will not be explicitly shown).

Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the inauguration of King Charles III, The Crown is set to return amid what is possibly the highest level of scrutiny yet directed at the show's historical authenticity.

Jonny Lee Miller, who plays the character of former British Prime Minister John Major in the forthcoming season, recently blasted the show as "destructive and vicious fiction" and a "barrel-load of nonsense" in reaction to the U.K.

According to media speculations from season five, Prince Charles aspired to succeed his mother as king and enlisted Major's support.
