'Squid Game' star Lee Yoo Mi named in TIME’s ‘Next Generation Leaders’ list

Squid Game actress Lee Yoo Mi has been named TIME's Next Generation Leaders in the 2022 list.

Time magazine announced '2022 Next Generation Leaders' on October 13, and Squid Game star Lee Yoo Mi was the only Korean name on the list.

As per Pinkvilla, the magazine recognised Lee as the next-generation leader who inspires people, also because she is the first Korean actress to win an Emmy Award.

The introduction in the magazine read, "Squid Game made her a global star, and now Lee Yoo Mi is paving her own way."

Through Time magazine, Lee Yoo Mi opened up that aside from her recognition "if there is a work that I'm actually appearing in as an actress, I hope that I will be remembered as an actress who can think, 'I want to see this actress so much'. I am loved, but no matter how the circumstances around me change, I must not change as myself and must remain the same."

Netflix series Squid Game was released on September 17, 2021and Lee Yoo Mi became the first Korean actress to win the Guest Actress Award at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards for starring in the critically acclaimed series.
