Oprah Winfrey might get ready to face questions by the lawyers over her bombshell TV interview with Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle two years later.

According to The Sun, the former host could be ordered to “submit to a deposition in the US”.

Meghan’s sister Samantha Markle, who had sued the Duchess of Sussex for £60,000 ($ 66,899.94) damages would like to call the 68-year-old as the witness in this testimony.

Samantha stated that her “reputation was damaged by Meghan’s comments” during Oprah's interview.

Nonetheless, Meghan’s sister also wanted “Harry to undergo a deposition” but, according to legal sources, “it’s far less likely”.

Reportedly, Meghan’s lawyer Michael Kump revealed that Samantha’s legal team had “identified 19 non-party witnesses, including Harry, Meghan’s mother, Oprah and others that she wanted to depose including the authors of Finding Freedom”.

Michael shared, “In an attempt to rescue her case’ Samantha alleges that Meghan is responsible for comments in Finding Freedom.”

“To state the obvious, because Meghan did not write Finding Freedom, she cannot be liable for statements in the book. It really could not be simpler than that,” wrote Meghan’s attorney.

Meanwhile, Kump also clarified that Meghan’s comments to Oprah were “protected by the First Amendment”.
