American comedian Roy Wood Jr. has recently been considered the potential replacement as a new host of The Daily Show after Trevor Noah announced his departure on Thursday.

The outlet reported that Wood Jr. has been part of the Comedy Central family since 2015, the same year Noah began his hosting duties after Jon Stewart left the show.

Sources revealed that the comedian has become one of show’s most popular faces particularly after he starred in the movie Confess, Fletch this year.

It is pertinent to mention that Wood Jr.’s contract is going up for renewal soon however, TMZ claimed that the comedian has not been approached yet.

“Talks are still in the infancy stage,” said the source, adding, “There’s talk the next host could well be a woman.”
