Another 'Planet of the Apes' installment: title and cast revealed

'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' will mark a new chapter in the history of the simians and humans

Another Planet of the Apes installment is set in stone with 20th-Century Studios confirming the news.

The installment was announced by 20th Century Studios, revealing the cast and the title which is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

The film will be directed by Wes Ball and picks up many years after the 2017 War for the Planet of the Apes which saw Caesar, a chimp that leads the anthropoids toward revolution.

The cast includes Owen Teague alongside newly announced cast members Freya Allen and Peter Macon. 

The script of the movie is written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. The producers are Joe Hartwick Jr. Jaffa, Silver and Jason Reed. Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping will be executive producing.

Steve Asbell, president of 20th Century Studios said in a statement, "Planet of the Apes is one of the most iconic and storied science fiction franchises in film history, as well as being an indelible part of our studio’s legacy."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will start production in October and is slated to release sometime in 2024.
