Katie Couric reveals breast cancer diagnosis, urges women to get screened

Katie Couric has revealed her diagnosis of breast cancer.

The journalist announced the heartbreaking news via her Instagram Wednesday, September 27.

“Every two minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. On June 21st, I became one of them,” she wrote in the caption alongside a photo of her in a patient’s gown and disposable mask.

She further touched upon the reason for the revelation stating, “As we approach #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, I wanted to share my personal story with you all and encourage you to get screened and understand that you may fall into a category of women who needs more than a mammogram.”

The 65-year-old presenter directed her followers to her website to read a more comprehensive essay on her diagnosis.
