Rihanna told Tem to ‘stop being so humble’

Rihanna advised something important to Tem, as she revealed.

Tems, a global sensation, talked candidly about her improbable rise to fame in a recent GQ cover story.

The 27-year-old singer discussed her humble beginnings, her collaborations with Beyoncé and Drake, and how the plaudits and co-signs don't exactly "hype her up" as much as one might think.

The star of Tiny Desk also revealed that international phenomenon Rihanna once advised her to quit being so modest. She told the outlet, "She was like, 'You need to be that bi**h you know you are.'"

The Nigerian singer (born Temilade Openiyi) acknowledges that she doesn't show much excitement in front of her celebrity fans, including Barack Obama, Future, Adele, and SZA, which she attributes to her voice's inherently mellow quality.

“I just have this chill thing going on,” she remarked.

Tems, however, doesn't want it to be assumed that she isn't appreciative or that she doesn't occasionally pinch herself.

She said, "Of course, it means something to me."
