Constance Wu’s shocking revelations about facing sexual harassment by Fresh Off the Boat producer

Constance Wu has recently spoken up on facing sexual harassment while working on hit series Fresh Off the Boat in her upcoming memoir Making a Scene.

In a latest interview with The Atlantic for her new book, the actress alleged that she was “sexually harassed” on the set of ABC sitcom by a member of the production team, reported via PEOPLE.

Reflecting on the disturbing experience, Constance revealed that she felt “paranoid and embarrassed”.

“Fresh Off the Boat was my first-ever TV show,” she said.

The Crazy Rich Asians star continued, “I kept my mouth shut for a really long time about a lot of sexual harassment and intimidation that I received the first two seasons of the show.”

“However, after its success, I was no longer scared of losing my job, that's when I was able to start saying ‘no' to the harassment, 'no' to the intimidation, from this particular producer,” explained the 40-year-old.

Eventually, the actress decided not to go public with this incident to “avoid staining the reputation of the show”.

Nevertheless, Constance mentioned that it was her publisher who “encouraged” her to write about this horrific incident.

“I eventually realised it was important to talk about because I did have a pretty traumatic experience my first couple years on that show, and nobody knew about it because that show was historic for Asian Americans,” she told outlet.

The reps for ABC sitcom and 20th Television have not “publicly responded to any of the accusations”.

Meanwhile, the actress’ memoir will be published on October 4.
