Saoirse Ronan to be the main lead in Steve McQueen’s World War II Movie 'Blitz'

Saoirse Ronan has been roped in to play the lead role in Steve McQueen's movie based on World War II.

Titled Blitz, the movie tells the stories of a group of Londoners during the aerial bombing of the capital in the War with Germany.

According to Variety,  Steve McQueen will pen the script as well as helm the movie. He will begin shooting at the end of this year.

It isn't clear what role Saoirse Ronan will be playing, but she will star alongside an unknown newcomer. It will be Ronan's first movie with the British director.

The Apple Original is McQueen's latest feature-length narrative effort following Widows in 2018.

Irish actress, Saoirse Ronan is also expected to star in Foe and See How They Run. Her recent credits include Ammonite, opposite Kate Winslet and Little Women with Meryl Streep.
