How words to God Save the Queen will change following Queen's death

God Save The Queen/King is a Britain national anthem that has been sung since the time of George I’s reign in 1744.

The author or composer of the national anthem is not known. However, it has been speculated that the tune of the anthem is similar to a keyboard piece by John Bull (1619).

The national anthem’s lyrics that mention the royal title are based on the current monarch ruling Britain.

The death of King George VI in 1952 marked the beginning of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-long-reign for which the lyrics were changed into God Save the Queen from the King.

Now that the 96-year-old monarch has passed away, the crown has been passed to her son King Charles. Following the tradition, the national anthem will once again change and replace Queen with King.
