Taylor Swift is suing over the design of her Lover book

Teresa La Dart To Sue Taylor Swift

As per Taylor Swift's latest news, Teresa La Dart sued her for the book that accompanied Swift's 2019 album of the same name.

La Dart claimed that "several creative elements" from her book Lover, a self-published poetry collection were copied by Swift for her Lover book, which was included with the special edition CD official launch of her album, in a new copyright lawsuit filed in Tennessee federal court and seen by Pitchfork.

La Dart's attorney asserted that as a result, Swift owes her damages "excess of million dollars."

La Dart said that Swift plagiarised portions of her work, including the title and the book's covered like "pastel pinks and blues,' and images of the author "photographed in a downward pose."

According to La Dart, Swift also imitated the book's "format," which was described as "a recollection of past years memorialised in a combination of written and pictorial components," as well as the interior layout, which had "interspersed photographs and writings."

Below are comparison images of the two books:

Pitchfork has made contact with Taylor Swift's agent. This is what La Dart's attorney told Pitchfork:

"It has been a bizarre day as this was filed less than 24 hours ago. Glad to provide some insight as many commentators seem to think this was poorly undertaken. Initially, it is important to note Miss La Dart feels strongly that her full work needs to be compared with that of Miss Swift’s before a conclusion is made here. Secondly, this decision was not made nor taken lightly considering the other side is quite formidable. Lastly, this was a recent consideration and this filing was made ostensibly to reserve Miss La Dart’s rights (primarily at this point) since yesterday was the date the statute of limitations closed. Hope the masses can understand these issues from her perspective, in other words."
