As per Taylor Swift's latest news, a literature course at University in Texas will focus on the singer's songwriting capabilities.
Beginning this fall, The Taylor Swift Songbook will fill a void in the curriculum at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA).
The songs of the pop superstar will be "read" alongside works by US and UK literary greats including Chaucer, Shakespeare, Coleridge, and Keats, as well as other musicians with whom students will hopefully be intimately familiar by the time they complete their studies.
According to a course outline on the UTA website, the course will employ "the songwriting of pop music icon Taylor Swift to introduce literary critical reading and research methods-basic skills for work in English literature and other humanities disciplines."
"Focusing on Swift's music and the cultural contexts in which it and her career are situated, we'll consider frameworks for understanding her work, such as poetic form, style, and history among various matters and theoretical issues important to contextualisation as we practice close and in-depth reading, evaluating secondary sources, and building strong arguments," it added.
Introductory texts include the albums Red (Swift's Version), Lover, Folklore, and Evermore for those who feel ready.
UTA follows in the footsteps of New York University (NYU), which has assisted fans in realising their greatest ambitions by offering a course on Swift as a music entrepreneur, as well as the different pop and country songwriters who influenced her work.
