Filipino actress Cherie Gil has passed away. The news was confirmed by her nephew Sid Lucero to GMA News.
The showbiz icon was 59 years old.
Her cause of death is still uncertain.
Cherie was known for her long and multi-awarded acting career and memorable characters in over 100 films, television shows, and theatre plays.
Manila by Night (City after Dark) and Oro, Plata, Mata has been two of the breakthrough films she did throughout her career.
Cherie Gil is the daughter of Filipino singer-actors Eddie Mesa and Rosemarie Gil, and the sister of fellow actors, Michael de Mesa, and Mark Gil.
She was formerly married to Rony Rogoff, and the couple has two children, Bianca and Raphael.
