Batgirl directors respond to their film’s cancelation

Batgirl directors were left saddened by the cancelation news of their movie.

The cancellation of Batgirl, which apparently occurred as the movie was in the final stages of post-production, has left both fans and industry insiders scratching their heads.

Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Falla are as "saddened and shocked by the news" as anyone, which is understandable.

The duo wrote in a post they uploaded to Instagram, “We still can't believe it.”

“As directors, it is critical that our work be shown to audiences,” they added. “And while the film was far from finished, we wish that fans all over the world would have had the opportunity to see and embrace the final film themselves. Maybe one day they will Insha’Allah.”

Leslie Grace, Michael Keaton, JK Simmons, Brendan Fraser, and the rest of the "amazing cast and crew," who "portrayed Batgirl with so much passion, dedication, and humanity," were among those thanked by the Ms. Marvel directors.

The post continued, “In any case, as huge fans of Batman since we were little kids, it was a privilege and an honor to have been a part of the DCEU, even if it was for a brief moment. Batgirl For Life.”

After getting so badly burnt, it appears unlikely that El Arbi and Falla will wish to work with WB Discovery again "in the near future."
