The judge has ruled against Jamie Spears’ request to take a deposition from Britney Spears, stating that the pop star will not have to answer questions from her father’s attorney.
The ruling came Wednesday, July 27 after Jamie Spears sought the court’s permission to call Britney on the stand and let his lawyer take her deposition related to her 13-year-old conservatorship.
Brenda Penny, the judge, said that the deposition will not likely to produce any new relevant information while Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart argued that a deposition would only serve to “retraumatize” his client.
“Whether he accepts it or not, his daughter feels traumatized by what she went through at his hands for more than a decade,” Rosengart said in court, adding that if Jamie Spears truly loved his daughter, he would have dropped his motion for a deposition.
Britney Spears had claimed that her father had abused his power during the time she was under his conservatorship.
She also accused her father of secretly surveilling her and her close friends.
