Blue Peter alum Adam Beales comes out as gay

Popular children’s TV presenter and YouTube sensation Adam Beales came out as gay in his recent video.

The Derry native shared the news in a nine-minute-long video on his YouTube channel on Friday, July 22.

"I'm gay...I've said it. I've finally told you something I've meant to tell you for a long time." the 22-year-old started off the video, sitting alongside his parents and younger brother.

"One thing I love about these guys is that when I told them, nothing changed, and that's the best feeling ever. To be able to love life, to wake up in the morning and feel like nothing's changed,” he said referring to his family.

Adam B also revealed he has a boyfriend and showed the moment he came out to the team at Blue Peter on the day of his final show.

Adam bid farewell to Blue Peter last week after a two-year stint as the 40th presenter of the BBC's iconic kids' TV show.

"This is the most vulnerable I've felt in a really long time, and it's the best I've felt in my entire life. This weight on my shoulders feels like it's finally been lifted, I can finally breathe," Beales ended the video.

The former Blue Peter presenter also shared the news on his respective social media accounts.
