Sydney Sweeney did not expect to win two first-time Emmy nominations

Sydney Sweeny is ‘beyond appreciative’ for bagging two Emmy Nominations.

The 24-year-old actress was nominated for two first-time Emmy Awards, one for her portrayal of Cassie Howard in the popular HBO drama Euphoria in the category for "outstanding supporting actress in a drama series", and another for HBO's comedy-drama series The White Lotus in the category for "outstanding limited series".

The American actress and model told PEOPLE, “I'm excited, I'm in disbelief, I'm beyond appreciative,” shortly after the nominations were announced. She added, “It's a great day!”

Although Sweeney has received praise for both of her performances, the actress said she never imagined she would be nominated for an Emmy, much less two.

“I wasn't really expecting this," she revealed.

She further added, "When I fell in love with acting, and when I fall in love with my characters, I don't really think about the whole award aspect of it. I think there are so many incredible actors that I was rooting for, so I wasn't ready.”

But Sweeney was not alone to bag achievements.

Zendaya, 25, a co-star in Sweeney's Euphoria, became the youngest two-time acting candidate on Tuesday after receiving her second Emmy nomination for her role as Rue in the HBO series.
