Lil Nas X opened up about the reason for his grievances against BET Awards.

The Old Town Road hitmaker recently spoke to The Rolling Stone where he revealed the real reason for his grudge against the BET Awards.

“My relationship with BET has been painful and strained for quite some time. It didn’t start with this year’s nominations like most people might think,” Lil Nas X told Rolling Stone in a statement.

He claimed that the Award show was reluctant to book Nas as they feared that he was a “satanist or devil worshiper.”

“They did let me perform on their show last year, but only after [I gave] assurances that I was not a satanist or devil worshiper, and that my performance would be appropriate for their audience.”

Earlier this month, the Montero rapper openly displayed his disapproval of the BET Awards when he learned that he did not receive any nominations.

"Thank you bet awards. an outstanding zero nominations," he wrote in a since-deleted tweet. "black excellence!"

He also teased a brief snippet of a diss track, Late to Da Party on Twitter, where he lip-synced along to a clip saying “[expletive] BET.”

Fans were justifiably muddled at the artist’s retortion to the occurrence - despite him having several accolades including a Grammy.

Nas X clarified his reaction in another tweet.

"This not over no bet award this is about the bigger problem of homophobia in the black community. Y'all can sit and pretend all u want but imma risk it all for us."
