Sesame Street’s ‘lost’ episode is ‘too scary’ for children to watch

Sesame Street's 'lost' episode, which was deemed so frightening that it had to be removed from rotation anytime the iconic children's show was broadcast on television, has suddenly resurfaced and made its way online.

After her beloved broomstick goes stolen, Margaret Hamilton - the actress who played the Wicked Witch of the West in 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz - reprises her green-faced role to help deliver a message to folks on the street about the power of overcoming their fears in the 1976 episode.

But the idea backfired.

Following its initial airing, the episode allegedly received numerous letters of complaint from concerned parents, virtually all of which were negative, with many expressing that their children were terrified of the episode and were now reluctant to watch the popular Children's Television Workshop show.

But the banished episode was recently found in a Reddit thread to which fans rushed to throw their response.

"This is a very, very big deal, for Sesame Street fans, Wizard of Oz fans, and lost media hobbyists. A holy grail of lost media has been found!" said one fan, explaining what the lost episode meant for them.
