YouTube star Emma Chamberlain sparked outrage after she was seen wearing a piece of history to the 2022 Met Gala.

For the Gilded Glamour theme, the social media star opted for a gold puff sleeve top and a white slinky skirt.

The piece that sparked outrage was the allegedly stolen choker that she wore.

According to multiple outlets, the necklace belonged to Indian royalty Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, who ruled from 1900 to 1938.

It is believed that the choker was stolen by the British as it eventually resurfaced at a London jewelry store in 1998 which later was taken up by Cartier.
