The producer of action/superhero film Aquaman 2, Peter Safran, recently sat down for a candid conversation about the upcoming, much awaited sequel of the Aquaman series and addressed the brewing pressure he’s been receiving from fans to fire lead actress Amber Heard.
In an interview with Deadline, Safran was quoted saying, “I don't think we're ever going to react to, honestly, pure fan pressure.” He went on to add, “You gotta do what's best for the movie. We felt that if it's James Wan and Jason Momoa it should be Amber Heard. That's really what it was.”
Before concluding he added, “One is not unaware of what is going on in the Twitter-verse, but that doesn't mean you have to react to it or take it as gospel or accede to their wishes. You have to do what's right for the film, and that's really where we landed on it.”
The talk about Heard’s removal from Aquaman 2 has been escalating ever since her battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp took the spotlight following domestic abuse claims. The update in their court case has re-ignited the #JusticeForJohnnyDepp crew on Twitter again.
The call for Heard’s dismissal from Aquaman 2 by the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s fans began after the formerly-married duo dropped explosive accusations of domestic violence at one another in the Rum Dairy’s star UK libel trial against The Sun publication.
