Matt Damon jokes about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez relationship: 'I hate true love'

 

Actor Matt Damon likes a laugh or two when it comes to his friends Ben Affleck.

The Good Will Hunting actor made an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show on Tuesday. During the conversation, Damon was asked about his long-time pal and co-writer, Affleck, 48, and his rekindled romantic partner Lopez, 52.

The host Jess Cagle in good humor said, "You're very happy for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. I know you love getting asked about that."

Damon responded, "Right. But how else would I be? Like, would I be unhappy? Like, 'I hate true love.'”

He continued jokingly, "It sucks. Yeah. Yeah. I wish them nothing, but you know, hardship."’

But this was all for fun. In reality, Damon is not “unhappy” for his friend and he elaborated upon that when he appeared on Extra to promote his film. According to Damon, he was “just so happy” for his bestie.

"He's the best. He deserves every happiness in the world," Damon said about Affleck's budding romance with Lopez. "I'm glad for both of them."

Affleck and Lopez crossed their paths and fell in love again. They initially dated almost two decades ago in July 2002 after working together on their film Gigli. The two started dating again in April after their respective splits from former partners Ana de Armas and Alex Rodriguez earlier this year.
