Rapper Biz Markle, who was known for his hit-song Just A Friend, left for his heavenly abode on Friday with his wife Tara by his side. He was 57.

Markle’s rep confirmed the news of him passing away. However, the cause of death has not been released yet.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce, this evening, with his wife Tara by his side, Hip Hop pioneer Biz Markie peacefully passed away. We are grateful for the many calls and prayers of support that we have received during this difficult time," the rep wrote in the released statement.

"Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years. He leaves behind a wife, many family members, and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes, and frequent banter. We respectfully request privacy for his family as they mourn their loved one."

At the beginning of this month, the rumors of Markle’s death were making rounds on the internet but his manager Jenni Izumi debunked the rumors, assuring the fans that New York’s rap icon is very much alive and is being treated by the best medical professionals.

"Biz's wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends, peers and fans alike," Izumi added. "At this time, we ask for your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
