Shailene Woodley reveals plan that she and Aaron Rodgers made after engagement

After Shailene Woodley said “Yes!” to Aaron Rodgers, the two decided to come up with a ploy to keep their engagement a secret for as long as possible to enjoy some special time together.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Shailene confessed that she and the Green Bay Packers quarterback didn’t want to announce their engagement to the world but they both knew that it’s only a matter of time that rumors will become news.

"When we announced that we were engaged, we wanted to do that only because we didn't want someone else to do it before we did," Shailene explained. "And we didn't do it for months and months after we had become engaged."

"But the reaction to it was really a lot, and so we were like, 'Let's just politely decline [to talk about the relationship] for a little while and live in our little bubble,'" the Divergent star added.

Shailene and Aaron were linked together by their mutual friends and within months they moved in together. In February, the news of romance between them surfaced and a few days later the two were engaged.

The quarterback star announced the news of their surprise engagement during his acceptance speech on Feb 6, when he was named the league's MVP during the NFL Honors broadcast. The actress confirmed it on Jimmy Fallon’s show:

"Yes, we are engaged. But for us, it's not new news, you know, so it's kind of funny. Everyone right now is freaking out over it and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while.'"
