Princess Diana’s last phone call reveals that she wished to see her boys, William & Harry

After nearly 24-years of the tragic death of Princess of Wales, Lady Diana, her close friend revisited their final phone call on the night of her shocking death in Paris in 1997.

Known journalist Richard Kay, who has been a longtime royal reporter and friend of the late princess, recalled his last telephone conversation with the princess of Wales for the upcoming documentary.

As per The Mirror reported, Kay has now revealed details about their final conversation as part of a new ITV documentary, Diana.

While making an appearance in the documentary, Kay recalled, "I spoke to her that night. [The] police said that the last call she made was to me.”

Talking to him on call, Lady Di, who was known as the People’s Princess, had told him that she was “in quite a good place” and was looking forward to embrace a new phase in her life.

"She was desperate to try and make a fresh start and do something different, to explore a different kind of royalty. And she wanted to come back and see her boys,” said Kay.

He also told the outlet that she really hoped to reunite with her children, Harry and William. The upcoming documentary will celebrate the late princess' life and trace the journey towards assuming the role of People's Princess. The documentary is slated to premiere on June 24, in celebration of Diana's 60th birth anniversary.
