Scarlett Johansson shares views on Golden Globes' HFPA: 'Their Behavior Bordered on Sexual Harassment'

Scarlet Johansson is urging her celebrity friends to put an end to their involvement Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

In a statement with Deadline this week, Scarlett asked other celebrities to cut ties with the association until they make the changes that are long overdue.

HFPA is a small group of international journalists that determine the nominees and winners of the Golden Globe Awards each year.

"As an actor promoting a film, one is expected to participate in awards season by attending press conferences as well as awards shows. In the past, this has often meant facing sexist questions and remarks by certain HFPA members that bordered on sexual harassment. It is the exact reason why I, for many years, refused to participate in their conferences," she said.

Scarlett also put her foot down and demanded a major revamp with the association.

"Unless there is necessary fundamental reform within the organization, I believe it is time that we take a step back from the HFPA and focus on the importance and strength of unity within our unions and the industry as a whole."
