Meghan Markle, Prince Harry celebrated US Mother’s Day, send donations for homeless moms

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their first Mother's Day in the family's Montecito home in US on Sunday.

To honor the big day, the soon-to-be-mom Markle showed a generous gesture by reaching out to expectant mothers in the US.

The duke and the duchess, who are also expecting their second child, a baby daughter in a few weeks time, surprised expectant mothers, who are experiencing homelessness, by sending them care packages.

In a Los Angeles charity home named Harvest Home that works with soon-to-be mum's, Harry and Markle’s Archewell was working with Procter & Gamble donating, providing "diapers, cleaning supplies, and other essential items" to the non-profit, which helps pregnant women and their children.

On Sunday, the Archewell website issued a statement in this regard as Meghan and Harry reached out to these women.

The statement read, "In honor of Mother's Day, Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are recognizing the work of Harvest Home, a Los Angeles–based organization that uplifts expectant mothers who are experiencing homelessness."

“As a mom, and an expectant mom, I deeply appreciate the significance of community support, safe and accessible pregnancy resources, and trusted guidance in a nurturing setting,” Markle wrote in a letter shared on Harvest Home’s Instagram.

“These ingredients are essential to not just our physical health, but our mental well-being, and I commend you for leading a compassionate community that lives these values.”

“Thank you for all you do for the women and mothers who are turned away elsewhere, at no fault of their own. When we consider how vulnerable any mother feels during the fragile time of pregnancy, we gain perspective about how especially difficult it can be for pregnant women of color and those who come from under-resourced and vulnerable communities. I hope you will accept an offer of support to help further uplift Harvest Home’s residents,” the letter read.
