Prince Philip was laid to rest at St. George's Chapel on Saturday. Shortly after his funeral service, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate shared a short message on social media about the loss of their beloved family member.

Honoring the Duke of Edinburgh, William and Kate posted the honorary message on their official Twitter account. In the message, the two praised the late Duke and his relationship with Queen Elizabeth II.

"The Duke of Edinburgh was a devoted consort to Her Majesty The Queen for nearly 70 years, from Her Majesty's Accession in 1952 until his death," the message read.

Alongside the post, they shared two photographs, a shot of the couple standing behind Philip's coffin, as well as another image showing William, brother Prince Harry and other family members following Philip's coffin into the chapel at Windsor Castle.

The official Instagram account for the Queen and her family shared another tribute. "In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh" they wrote alongside a photo of the late royal tipping his hat.
