Kamala Harris speaks with Tyler Gordon, the artist behind her portrait

Bay Area teen Tyler Gordon’s wish came true when his inspiration, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris gave him a ring to appreciate his talent.

Harris shared a video of her chatting with the artist on the Instagram. "Tye, you are amazing," she told him. "I am overwhelmed with just the magnificence of your artistry. You really have a gift, my goodness."

Harris, 56, went on to encourage Gordon to keep using his skill to inspire others. She shared her gratitude in the caption appreciating Gordon’s talent. "Calling Tye," she wrote. "Thank you to everyone who tagged me in Official_TylerGordon's video. I was able to call him before Thanksgiving to tell him how much I appreciate him sharing his gift with all of us."

Gordon’s video went viral last week of him painting a portrait of Vice President-elect. He, then launched a campaign to try to get in contact with her to see the portrait.

"kamalaharris My name is Tyler Gordon and I'm 14 years old and I live in the Bay Area! I painted this picture of you and I hope you like it!!!" he wrote. He then urged his supporters to help him get Kamala's attention: "Please tag her and her people so that she can see this. Please!!!"

"Oh my God! I'm overwhelmed with the magnificence of your artistry! You really have a gift," the VP-elect told Gordon over the phone.

A time-lapse video that Gordon, 14, tweeted of himself painting has been viewed more than one million times. His dream is to paint the official White House portrait.
