Dr.Deborah Birx advises all Americans to get their COVID-19 test after the Thanksgiving holidays

Dr. Deborah Birx, the coordinator of the White House Coronavirus Task Force has a message for all Americans.

All the US citizens, who traveled back home for the holidays or attended large gatherings, should assume they are already infected by the virus and get themselves tested in the next few days.

"We know people may have made mistakes over the Thanksgiving time period. If you're young and you gathered, you need to be tested about five to 10 days later. But you need to assume that you're infected and not go near your grandparents and aunts and others without a mask," said Birx in a recent interview.

For safety purposes on a greater scale, American health experts warned the public to lay low this Thanksgiving and avoid unnecessary gatherings.

More than 266,000 Americans have lost their lives to the deadly virus as of now. More than 13.2 million confirmed cases have surfaced.
