Dr.Joseph Varon shares his heartbreaking interactions with COVID-19 patients

It has been a year since the novel coronavirus hit the world and every new day is a challenge greater than before.

Coronavirus has been especially dreadful for all the frontline workers who witness a number of people struggling against death. While a sufficient number of people survive, the death toll is still majorly dominant.

A recent photo shared by PEOPLE shows the struggle of a doctor consoling a COVD-19 patient with a hug. Dr. Joseph Varon as of now has been working for at least 252 days straight to help fight the virus with all of these patients.

“If we don't do things right, America is going to see the darkest days in modern American medical history," he said.

This whole scenario is heartbreaking for his staff too. He shared how his nurses always come to him with a tearful eye after admitting another positive patient.

"My nurses in the middle of the day, they will start crying ... When they finish finally getting a patient in, they get a phone call from the ER that there is another patient that is being admitted," Varon continued.

"How have I done it? I don't know. I'm running out of fumes."
