‘The Queen’s Gambit’ becomes the most-watched series on Netflix

Netflix’s limited time series The Queen’s Gambit became the biggest, most-watched series of the platform.

On Monday, Netflix announced that the series was watched by 62 million households in its first 28 days. The show became an ultimate hit within a few days of its release in late October and secured its ranking for weeks at Netflix's top 10 in the US.

Netflix goes on to say that The Queen's Gambit has a confirmed international appeal, too, with the scripted limited series sitting in the Netflix Top 10 rankings in 92 countries.

The Queen's Gambit is also, per Netflix, ranked #1 in 63 countries, including the United Kingdom, Argentina, Israel, and South Africa. The show has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes critic score.

Created by Scott Frank starring Anya Taylor-Joy, the show has set a viewership record is based on Walter Tevis' 1983 novel of the same name. the novel was New York’s best time seller of its time.

In its seven-episode duration, The Queen’s Gambit tells the story of an orphan girl Beth Harmon played by Ana Taylor-Joy, a chess genius who grapples with the pressures of a rising star in the world of chess with the personal issues of addictions in the mid-20th century.

The record-setter show may get another season as fans are already too excited to watch Beth Harmon and her genius chess strategies on their screens.
