Doug Emhoff, husband of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, is supporting wife’s election campaign in full swing. The advocate has put his career on hold and joined the campaign trail to rally voters on behalf of his wife.

The potential first ‘second gentleman’ is on a leave of absence from his law firm to support Harris.

The lawyer, 56, endorsed democratic representatives Biden and Harris in their fight against hate speech. “On November 3, we're going to win this election. And we're going to put this division behind us,” he said during a campaign trail in Michigan.

Addressing the crowd, Emhoff talked about how young people are ‘shaping our future.’ He stressed issues like college affordability, access to health care, stopping gun violence, fighting hate and discrimination in ‘all of its ugly forms.’

Mocking the present government’s ‘kitchen cabinet’ of advisors, Emhoff said that he has no plans to head up any official position if his wife becomes vice president. "I’m her husband, that’s it. She's got plenty of great people giving her political advice," he said to People.

The lawyer added, "I'm her partner, I'm her best friend and I'm her husband. And that's what I'm here for. I'm here to have her back."

The two first met on a blind date in 2013 and got married a year later.
