Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd star together in Sam Levinson’s 'The Idol'
Lily-Rose Depp is staying at The Weeknd’s place.
For Lily-Rose Depp's co-star Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye, the character from The Idol hits near to heart.
According to a new Max featurette, Tesfaye, 24, plays aspiring pop diva Jocelyn on the show, who resides in Tesfaye's own Bel Air estate.
Architectural Digest claims that the 33-year-old singer's $70 million, 33,000 square-foot estate, which he bought two years ago, is equipped with a movie theatre, gym, sauna, and indoor pool. In other words, it offers the ideal surroundings for the hip-hop, young musician that Depp plays in the newest music industry drama.
The house also has an outside pool with an infinity design and a cascade suitable for Hollywood royalty, which can be seen in the streamer's first behind-the-scenes peek at the show.
Tesfaye's acquisition, according to AD, was one of the most expensive property sales in Los Angeles in 2021.
The singer's estate was not initially planned to be one of the most significant locations in the show or to even be shown on screen.
Tesfaye and Sam Levinson, who co-created the series, were dissatisfied with the first episode and felt they needed to start over entirely.
"If we were going to reshoot from the beginning, I knew it had to be for less money," Levinson, 38, told W Magazine last month. "Quitting the show wasn’t an option for Abel or me. It was a dream that we had together and we had to see it through."
The director of Euphoria proposed they reshoot there while seated in the "Starboy" singer's Bel Air residence, he told W Magazine.
He said that Tesfaye "put down his drink and asked, ‘Do you have insurance?’"
"I said yes," Levinson continued. "And he said, ‘I’m okay with it.’"
The actors and crew moved into the Grammy winner's Bel Air estate just a few weeks later, the magazine claims and Tesfaye left.
