Amanda Seyfried says Elizabeth Holmes' incarceration is 'fair for her'

Amanda Seyfried is glad to witness the back of the Elizabeth Holmes debacle.

The former entrepreneur began her 11-year prison sentence this week after she was charged with multiple counts of fraud for leading a deceptive startup pertaining to public health.

During an appearance on Good Morning America, Seyfried, who embodied Holmes in an Emmy-winning role in a Hulu biopic titled, The Dropout, offered her two cents on the debacle.

“I feel for those kids. Those two kids. They’re hanging in the balance here. As a parent, I’m just like… As a mom, I’m just like — I don’t know,” the Mean Girls alum said. “Life’s not fair. But in a lot of ways, it’s fair for her, in particular.”

Earlier this month, Holmes spoke to New Yorker Times and weighed in on Seyfried’s portrayal of her in the Hulu limited series, saying, “They’re not playing me.”

“They’re playing a character I created,” she affirmed.

At 19 years old, Elizabeth Holmes became a self-made billionaire after she promised to have founded a medical device called Theranos, claiming it was capable of diagnosing illness with just a finger prick blood sample.

The former CEO was soon denounced after she failed to meet the end of her bargain in exchange for investors raising millions of dollars for the alleged device.
